Goalkeeper: Odysseas Vlachodimos (Sevilla)
Vlachodimos was in imperious form as Sevilla comprehensively tore Barcelona apart.
The Greek keeper made seven saves, including a decisive one with his feet to stop Marcus Rashford just before half-time.
Defence: Jose Angel Carmona (Sevilla)
Even without his goal, Carmona would have earned a place in the team of the week for his defensive performance, composure on the ball and attacking contributions throughout the 90 minutes.
Four out of four tackles won and nine out of ten duels won; Carmona locked down the right-hand side of the Sevilla defence and kept Ferran Torres quiet all game.
His 90th minute goal topped off an impressive performance from the Spanish defender.
Defence: Federico Dimarco (Inter)
Dimarco had a near perfect game, contributing a goal and assist as Inter comfortably came out on top against minnows Cremonese.
Alongside having five shots and creating five big chances, Dimarco won all of his tackles and ground duels, while making three interceptions.
Defence: Marc Cucurella (Chelsea)
Cucurella’s pinpoint delivery set Estêvão up to grab a last-minute winner against Liverpool.
Defensively, the Spaniard kept Mohamed Salah quiet, limiting the Egyptian to just two off-target shots in 90 minutes.
Defence: Jurrien Timber (Arsenal)
Another clean sheet for the best defence in the world.
Jurrien Timber delivered his usual performance; dominant defensively and a constant threat on the overlap. His attacking intent was rewarded with a penalty when he was taken out by El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Timber’s supporting runs and intelligent positioning is helping to get the best out of Bukayo Saka, who converted the penalty to claim his 100th Premier League goal involvement.
Midfield: Moises Caicedo (Chelsea)
Caicedo’s stunning strike got Chelsea off to a strong start against Liverpool, but it was his commanding performance in the middle of the park that ensured the three points.
The Ecuadorian is Chelsea’s most important player and is firmly in the contention to be considered the best midfielder in the league.
Midfield: Bruno Guimarães (Newcastle)
Bruno forms part of one of the most effective and balanced midfield trios in Europe.
Against Nottingham Forest, Bruno broke the deadlock with a curling shot from outside the box before winning the penalty that Nick Woltemade converted to secure a 2-0 victory.
Midfield: Matt O’Riley (Marseille)
O’Riley lined up as the central attacking midfielder in De Zerbi’s 4-2-3-1, contributing a goal and assist in Marseille’s comfortable 3-0 win over Metz. Much of Marseille’s attacking play went through the Danish midfielder, who completed 21 of his 24 passes in the final third.
Forward: Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid)
A performance reminiscent of his 2023/24 peak – Vinícius Júnior looked back to his best against Villarreal.
The Brazilian was Real’s dangerman throughout. After a stale first half, Real were whistled off the pitch by the home support but it took Vinícius Júnior less than two minutes to break the second half deadlock.
After a quiet 2024/25 for Vinícius Júnior, the Brazilian forward is showing signs of rejuvenation under Xabi Alonso.
Forward: Luis Díaz (Bayern)
A strong contender for signing of the season, Luis Díaz is enjoying life at the Allianz Arena.
Two goals and an assist in the 3-0 away victory was the latest in a long line of impressive performances from the Colombian. Harry Kane’s goals are dominating the headlines, but it is Díaz’s performances on the left that could fire Bayern to European glory.
Forward: Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth)
What a season Semenyo is having for Bournemouth; the winger already has six league goals and three assists.
After a drab 75 minutes, Iraola made an inspired tactical change that fuelled Bournemouth’s impressive late comeback. Semenyo scored twice and grabbed an assist as he continued his fine form in front of goal.
