Giorgi Mamardashvili – 6
Wasn’t too busy, although made a smart save just before half-time. Not too efficient in possession but overall a solid performance from the Georgian.
Conor Bradley – 9
Very impressive performance from the right-back, who kept Vinícius Júnior quiet all night and bombed forward at every opportunity.
Ibrahima Konate – 6
Held his ground but was walked past by Jude Bellingham for a rare Madrid opportunity in the first half.
Virgil van Dijk – 7
Marshalled the Liverpool defence well and was rarely threatened. Tidy in possession and a constant threat in the Madrid box from set-pieces.
Andy Robertson – 8
An Andy Robertson performance of old. Effective in both halves, disciplined in defence and effective with the ball at his feet. Deserves to keep his spot in the starting XI.
Ryan Gravenberch – 8
Partnered up well with Connor Bradley to completely isolate Vinícius Júnior. Gravenberch’s engine, pressing and positioning helped Liverpool to dominate the midfield battle.
Alexis Mac Allister – 8
Took his goal well to seal the deserved three points. Decisive on the ball and performed a perfect system role to stop the Madrid midfield from getting a hold of the game.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 9
Another fine performance from the Hungarian. Unlucky to come up against a Courtois in fine form otherwise would have come away with at least one deserved goal. Ran the show and set up Mac Allister’s winner with an inch-perfect delivery.
Mohamed Salah – 6
Quiet through most of the game, but rolled back the years with a late bit of brilliance that almost set up Gakpo.
Hugo Ekitike – 7
Performed the role of a hold-up striker well, even if goalscoring opportunities were few and far between. With Isak injured, Ekitike will be looking to cement that starting spot.
Florian Wirtz – 7
Starting to show snippets of what made him such an exciting talent at Leverkusen. Was full of energy and ideas, although they’re not quite coming off for him just yet.

Thibaut Courtois – 9
Looked to be impenetrable before Mac Allister finally broke the deadlock. Could have been a far worse night for Madrid had it not been for Courtois, who made eight saves.
Fede Valverde – 7
Started ahead of the returning Alexander-Arnold and did well defensively, winning two tackles and four duels. Tidy in possession without ever looking dangerous.
Éder Militão – 6
The stronger of the Real Madrid centre-back pairing on the night, battled well with Ekitike.
Dean Huijsen – 5
Not the strongest showing from the young Spaniard. Bullied by Ekitike and booked for a silly challenge in the middle of the park. Almost gifted Liverpool a goal with a careless mistake.
Álvaro Carreras – 7
Dealt with Salah well, especially in the first half. The most involved of any Madrid defender, winning three tackles and nine duels.
Aurélien Tchouaméni – 6
Fortunate not to give away a penalty and often overrun by the Liverpool midfielders, but still an effective presence breaking up play in the middle.
Eduardo Camavinga – 6
Battled well but not overly effective in possession. Deployed on the right of the midfield but struggled to have much of an impact.
Arda Güler – 5
Kept quiet throughout by the dominant Liverpool midfield. Had a shot on target but not too much else to write home about.
Jude Bellingham – 6
Showed one world-class moment with a tight dribble past Konate in the Liverpool box, but the shot was tame. For the most part was stuck performing defensive duties, and gave away the free-kick Liverpool went on to score from.
Vinícius Júnior – 6
Tried to make things happen but was well dealt with by Connor Bradley. Had a few early opportunities but was kept relatively quiet.
Kylian Mbappé – 6
Disappointingly quiet from the Frenchman, who failed to register a shot on target. Started to drop deeper to get in possession. One late opportunity from a Vinícius Júnior cut-back was put wide.
