Goalkeeper: Robin Risser (Lens)
Young Robin Risser is one to watch. The 20-year-old French keeper already has three clean sheets in Ligue 1 and impressed again with an assured display against Monaco. His five saves helped secure the three points and keep Lens firmly in the early title race.
Defence: Malo Gusto (Chelsea)
After 165 senior club appearances, Gusto finally has his first goal. His well-timed run saw the Frenchman get on the end of a Garnacho cross to open the floodgates against a resolute Wolves defence.
Defence: Edmond Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen)
Two assists and a clean sheet for the Burkinabé centre-back. Nearly every Leverkusen starter staked a claim for the team of the week, with seven of them contributing either a goal or assist during the 6-0 rout.
Defence: Danilho Doekhi (Union Berlin)
Doekhi’s two goals helped to end Bayern’s winning streak. Harry Kane has created numerous goals this season, but against Union Berlin he inadvertently set up Doekhi’s second with a misplaced header. While the hosts couldn’t hold on for the three points, it was still an impressive all-round display to come away with a valuable point.
Defence: Federico Dimarco (Inter Milan)
What a title race Serie A is experiencing. Dimarco’s assist helped Inter to a 2-0 win over Lazio, keeping them top on goal difference ahead of Roma. With two goals and four assists already in the league, Dimarco bombing up and down the left continues to be a vital cog in Christian Chivu’s setup.
Midfield: Ibrahim Maza (Bayer Leverkusen)
Maza’s best performance in a Leverkusen shirt to date. The young Algerian scored twice, completed 88 passes and won 8 duels in an all-action performance next to Aleix García in central midfield.
Midfield: Vitinha (PSG)
The Portuguese continues to show why he is in the conversation about the best midfielders in the world right now. Everything PSG do flows through Vitinha; he completed 117 passes and contributed two first half assists that appeared to set PSG on course for a regulation away win. Following a Lyon equaliser, it took a late João Neves winner to seal the three points.
Winger: Ernest Poku (Bayer Leverkusen)
The third Leverkusen player to feature; Poku set up Schick’s opener before grabbing a goal of his own midway through the first half. The Dutch forward was efficient in possession and terrorised the Heidenheim defence throughout.
Winger: Jeremy Doku (Manchester City)
Conor Bradley locked down Vinícius Júnior midweek but was powerless to stop the explosive Doku. The Belgian was in scintillating form – completing seven dribbles, three shots and a very well taken goal from outside the box. If City are to retain any hope of chasing Arsenal, Doku needs to perform to this level week in, week out.
Forward: Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona)
The veteran Pole rolled back the years with a vintage hat-trick against Celta Vigo, the 19th of his career. Having opened the scoring from the penalty spot, Lewandowski converted two Rashford crosses. It was the striker’s first league start after suffering a muscle injury during the international break.
Forward: Antoine Griezmann (Atlético Madrid)
Another veteran still among the goals, Griezmann came off the bench to score twice and seal Atlético’s win over Levante. Julian Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth are Simeone’s preferred starting pair, but having a trusted source of goals off the bench is always an asset.
